Equipment
RHD. Dual history, possibly originally a 500 Mondial with Ferrari team history, later converted to 750 Monza. Or maybe a 750 Monza from inception. In any event as a 750 Monza it was owned by Fernando de Mascarenhas and later Borge Barreto in Portugal. Acquired in the 70s and mated up with this engine but never completed although now a rolling chassis with driveline in place and body support structure (work by Hall & Fowler and Church Green Engrg). Includes the original, much repaired, body shell. A.J. Lees Collection, 17.5% VAT due on hammer price.
Market commentary
$736,328 with the VAT. This is a big bet, but a real car. It needs Lot 520s $47,700 Weber 58 DCOA3 carbs. Just the 750 Monza type tach, water temp and oil pressure gauges sold here brought +7,113 (+8,358 with VAT, $14,816) making the investment at least $800K. That is, by anyones standards, a big bet.
