Equipment
Chrome spoke outside laced Borrani wire wheels, giant Nardi steering wheel and red faced gauges that melt into the Red painted dashboard. Later engine. Giant oval air intake with two small low placed driving lights, hood scoop, curved windshield. Probably designed by Savonucci for Ghia, a gorgeous package set off by lightning bolt side trim. Restored in the U.S.in the late 90s, displayed at Pebble Beach in 2002 and The Quail in 2005. Second at Villa dEste in 2007. Beautifully presented with flush panel fits and even gaps, an elegant and distinctive one off, missing sublime only on account of its odd afterthought headlights and the low mounted driving lights in the air intake. The turned aluminum shift and dash knobs are attractive but probably replicate period plastic now long gone from UV deterioration.
Market commentary
An important and attractive example, distinctively and attractively different from the usual 8Vs. Given that it has essentially no history (no shows, no races, no provenance of note) it stands on its own for its chassis and appearance, which is essentially sufficient to support its GBP price of 341,000 Pounds. Five and a half hundred thousand dollars, however is a bit rich, even for this exceptional and unique Fiat 8V.
