Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

RHD. First owner was Frederick Handley Page, founder of the aircraft company of the same name, with camouflage paintwork and blackout lighting. Disassembled in 2008 in a project to repower it with a Merlin 113A V 12 aircraft engine (sold earlier as lot 121a for GBP 20,700, about $35,000). Paint stripped, interior gone, chassis complete with full drive train.

Market commentary

Sold at Bonhams Harrogate auction in November 2008 for GBP 9,430 ($14,235 at the time), this is a car of little or no distinction (although restored in camo with blackout lighting as used to chauffeur Sir Frederick around while building Halifax bombers it would be a great period piece.) The possibilities with Merlin power, however, threaten to warp space time. Thats a project worth pursuing.
