Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

Dual enclosed sidemounts, teardrop step plates, skirts, wide whitewalls, vee windshield. A one off custom, one of the first, if not the first, convertible with rollup pivoting rear quarter windows, built for Walter E. Weiss, president of Sterling Drug. Restored in the mid 90s for Ernest Stern and good enough to be shown at Pebble Beach in 2003 and a class win at the Rocky Mountain Concours in 2007. Carefully maintained by a series of noted collectors now showing some pitting under the paint on the front of the rear fenders. Interior and dash are still flawless. A beautiful car, sympathetically maintained for years.

Market commentary

This is an impressive value in a car with any number of important attributes. The buyer got a great car for a very modest price, its that simple.
