Equipment
Chrome wire wheels, dual rear mounted spares, outside exhaust pipes, screen hood sides, fitted luggage, Trippe lights. Rudolf Bauers SJ formal cabriolet, completely original (even the tires), unrestored and in remarkably well preserved condition. The last Duesenberg chassis delivered, one of 36 factory SJs, three owners from new. A car that is as remarkable for its story and survival as it is for its elaborate design and appearance.
Market commentary
Sold by Christies at Lyndhurst in 1998 for $1,267,500 with some subsequent preservation work. Nine years have passed and the value has doubled ... which beats inflation.
