Equipment
Chrome trailing arms and exhaust. Fair repaint, good upholstery. Chassis older and no longer fresh, some rust on chrome bits. Hydraulic lever shocks, transverse leaf spring suspension, four wheel drum brakes, Red wire wheels. Colorful if somewhat speculative history as one of two Lew Welch Specials built for the 1935 Indy 500, later converted to street use and delivered by Evangeline Dahlinger (wife of Henry Fords estate manager) to actor Keenan Wynn with some subsequent movie history. Meticulously restored and a multiple show winner now ageing but still very attractive and intriguing.
Market commentary
Obviously built in the 30s or early 40s, the sketchy history is intriguing but not substantial enough to give it a serious value punch. Still, if only for its configuration and equipment, the price paid is reasonable.
