Equipment
Offset single seater with unblown Riley six cylinder engine tuned for alcohol with six Amal carbs, Dual rear wheels as hillclimbed by the builder, Hector Dobbs, from 1935. Competed in the British GP in 1935, making it eligible for just about anything. Later raced by Wilkie Wilkinson and Roy Salvadori. Doesnt appear ever to have been restored, although the body was rebuilt at one point with Alta panels and has been returned to the origil offset style. Used and historic raced but professiolly prepared for the current season.
Market commentary
An historic car with good privateer special history and important eligibility for historic GP events that brought a modest price in GBP and not even an unreasoble price is US$ although its a stretch for a car with no U.S. history. Compared with the other Riley engined monoposto sold today (the origil ERA R1A), it is a Riley bargain and is fair to both the buyer and the seller.
