Vehicle details

Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

Chrome wire wheels with blackwall tires, dual sidemounts, single Pilot Ray. Original body (one of three built), SJ engine and all the rest but the frame was replaced (for reasons unknown) in the early 50s with 2557 (J551) by Harry Schultzinger. First owner Lt. Col. Jacob Schick (he of the Eversharp razor.) Freshly restored by Fran Roxas and in minutely detailed and impeccable show ready condition.

Market commentary

This is an unusually handsome Duesenberg with an intricate disappearing top. An original SJ with known history from new, it is worth every one of the 1.3 million dollars paid for it.
