Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

Twilite headlamps, luggage rack, dual Stromberg windshield wiper motors, dual side mounted spares with mirrors, fully disappearing top, chrome wire wheels. Wood door panels that would make a wooden boat owner proud. Some small paint defects but otherwise a pristine example. Commissioned for Colonel Robert R. McCormick and given to Sidney Smith author of the comic The Gumps as a signing bonus. Matching components throughout, originally supercharged. Won its class in 1992 at Pebble Beach and is still spectacular.

Market commentary

This is what it takes to own one of the most desirable of all Duesenbergs which makes it one of the most desirable of all Classics.
