Equipment
Chrome wire wheels, dual sidemounts with chrome enclosures and mirrors, sliding sunroof, wide whitewalls, luggage rack, Pilot Rays, Marchal headlights, trafficators, rollup divider, opening windshield, speedometer, altimeter and Jaeger clock in rear, also a bar compartment with decanters, outside exhaust headpipes, screen hood sides. An attractive old restoration with some touchup but plenty of age apparent. Deserves to be driven for a few years then re restored with some (but not all) of its non original features corrected. Hood fit is off, right opera light broken. Good but aged upholstery, good interior wood.
Market commentary
Sold for $374,000 from the Pat Ryan Collection at Christies Pebble Beach Auction in 2001. Its had some recent cosmetics to attend to its acne and is a particularly attractive closed Duesenberg. Its colorful history only adds to its appeal and it is appropriately priced in this transaction, which is also something of a benchmark for a closed Duesenberg without Ethel Mars or Twenty Grand history.
