Equipment
Chrome spoke wire wheels, dual enclosed sidemounts, dual windshields, wind wings, luggage trunk with fitted luggage, dual spotlights, Trippe lights, radiator stone guard. Jonas Edwards 17th birthday present. Partially repainted on right rear fender and sidemount covers. Original paint is dull on fenders, cowl and body. Original interior is sound except for drivers seat cushion which is cracked and torn. Even the top on this car appears to be original. Chrome is only fair, but still presentable. An exceptionably sweet piece of history and a remarkable survivor.
Market commentary
Offered at Bonhams Brookline auction in 2005 where it was a no sale at a reported bid of $105,000. Here in Greenwich the consignor and long term owner had come up with a 2004 Road & Track piece mentioning the cars reunion with Betty Edwards, the widow of Jonas Edwards, the first owner. It didnt seem to help enough to get it sold even at $15,000 more than was reportedly bid in Brookline. The market is speaking but the seller isnt hearing.
