Equipment
Black painted wire wheels, dual sidemounts, whitewalls, Marchal headlamps, wind wings, folding windshield, speaking tube, jump seats. Later owned by author Ralph Stein. Recent paint and interior work displays beautifully. Running boards are not restored and the underside looks like it hasnt been touched in 50 years. Inner fenders have runs and paint over pitted metal. Wheels are old, chrome is lightly pitted and rubbed through in some places. Originally built as a Tilbury, then rebodied with its present coachwork in 1933. 2010 Pebble Beach Most Elegant Closed Car winner.
Market commentary
A strikingly gorgeous open town car, formal and handsome yet also sporting enough to invite a joy ride. Its older cosmetics aside from the new paint fly against the wind of current concours standards but its still so outstandingly elegant and charming that it can stand proudly in the most demanding competitions, as it did at Pebble Beach last year. A magnificent sight to behold and arguably more car than the money it brought.
