Equipment
Spurgin Giovanine lakester, set Class A record at 123.635 mph powered by Chevy 4 cylinder, 1948 SCTA champion, then ran 141 with a GMC six. Redesigned in 1956 with the Jimmy in the back, then retired until it was found in Apple Valley in 1999, rough and without running gear. Thats how it was presented here.
Market commentary
Its not often a car crosses the auction block offering optiol front or rear engine placement. The passion for old hot rods was muted in Carmel Valley today. Given the cost of unscrapping this relic, and the lack of charisma of 6 cylinder Jimmy or 4 cylinder Chevy power if its correctly restored, a $20K bid is a gift.
