Notes and observations recorded by Hagerty staff.

Equipment

RHD. Dual sidemounts, Auster rear windscreen, nickel brightwork. A lovely automobile in nearly like new condition. The contrast between the nickel brightwork and polished aluminum body is delightful. Shipped to India for the Calcutta Motor Show, bought by the Maharajah of Charkhari then shipped back to England in 1926 to be rebodied by Barker in this polished aluminum masterpiece. Stored away in India for many years and restored in the mid 90s with many class wins including 2000 Pebble Beach.

Market commentary

The highly polished aluminum body may be a maintenance nightmare, but it is fabulous to behold and brought an appropriate price despite a very modest estimate. The bidders were simply not put off, and reacted to the car, not the catalog.
