Equipment
RHD. CAV electric lighting, Black wire wheels. Known history from new or at least from so long ago as not to make any difference. Never restored, just maintained, serviced and used as needed by a succession of enthusiastic owners. Driven 800 miles in 2005 on the Gordon Bennett. A wonderful old car in remarkably well preserved, largely original condition. Sound, creased old seat coverings, good canework accent on body sides, cracked, scarred old paint, good brass and nickel.
Market commentary
Offered by Bonhams at Goodwood in July 2002 where it was a no sale against an estimate of $75 85,000 (+48 55,000). While Napier was an honored competitor of Rolls Royce, it has nowhere near the reputation and therefore nowhere near the value. Even at that, however, this bid is modest for such a lovely, original, patinaed old crock capable of keeping up with todays traffic. The seller was entirely reasonable to decide to keep it for another attempt later.
