Equipment

RHD, wheel steering, vertical single engine with atmospheric intake valve. A rough beater made up from parts. RHD. Removable tonneau. Front body including seats is very old. Old step plates. Rear wheel brakes. Awful paint, dead vinyl upholstery. A project deDion engine and transaxle. Platform rear springs. Not running.

Market commentary

The bidders thought this deDion was worth far more than either I or Bonhams did, even with fairly firm identification as a 1904 and thus eligible for the Brighton Run. Maybe because it was one of the last cars in the sale the bidders got desperate to take something, anything, home. They did, but at great cost.
