Auction Results: Barrett-Jackson’s 2014 Palm Beach sale

Barrett-Jackson closed on yet another successful event at Palm Beach, Fla. From April 11-13, 2014, $25M in automobiles changed hands, which was 16% stronger than last year and the company’s strongest performance in Florida since 2007. The average price per lot tracked higher by almost 20% over 2013, and was the best since 2007. This gain can largely be attributed to a rise in the number of cars being offered and the sale of five high-profile charity cars. The two top sellers were the first retail production 2015 Corvette Z06 and 2015 Camaro Z/28, both of which sold for charity.

Two notable Oldsmobiles also traded. One was a 1969 4-4-2 convertible replicated to the specifications of the 1969 Hurst Shifters promotional car, which sold for $200,000. The other was the 1979 Cutlass Hurst/Olds coupe that was first owned by Hurst spokeswoman Linda Vaughn and was sold in Scottsdale earlier this year for $270,000. It earned $200,000 for the Cancer Research Fund this time around.

Other vehicles of interest were a 1987 Buick Regal GNX Coupe that just missed the six-figure mark at $99,000, including buyer’s premium; a 1958 Volkswagen Samba 23-Window Microbus that sold for a massive $110,000; and a mid-range 1958 Messerschmitt KR200 that traded for $45,650.
