Rally-Raid-Ready Mini Countryman Concept is Close to Reality

A Mini Countryman built to tackle the toughest terrain has been developed by off-road experts X-raid and delta4x4.

With its lifted suspension, wider track, 4×4 tires, bull bars, roof rack, and no less than ten additional spot lamps, this Mini is ready for maximum adventure.

X-raid is the team behind six Dakar Rally wins, having built the BMW X3 CC, the Mini All4 Racing and Mini JCW Rally cars, while delta4x4 specializes in all-terrain accessories. Together, they’re the perfect partners to see the Mini Countryman X-raid progress from concept to reality.

The car’s off-road ability comes from a ride height raised by two inches and bodywork that’s wider by almost half an inch to accommodate delta4x4’s Hanma 18×9-inch wheels, which are shod with 225/55 R18 Loder AT tires. Protecting the front end is a crash bar made from three-inch stainless steel tube, and on the roof sits a rack packed with sand ladders, a shovel, plus spare wheels, and fuel. Four PIAA Racing spotlights are mounted on the hood with six further lights on the roof. On the rear quarters are Land Rover Defender-like storage boxes for easy access to other spares or kit while out in the wilds. Rugged matte black paint with orange accents completes the look.

Everything has been designed to comply with Germany’s tough TUV regulations, so the car could be built and sold in limited numbers or, as X-raid does for the previous generation of Countryman, the parts could be supplied for existing owners to convert their own cars. With the latest Countryman available as an EV, you could even hit the trails in silence if you wanted.

Whether you fancy a go at the Dakar Rally, the Rubicon Trail, or just want to look rugged on the school run, the Mini Countryman X-raid appears to be up for the job.
