Petersen Museum Holding Charity Cruise-In to Support CA Fire Recovery Efforts

Petersen Museum

The Petersen Automotive Museum’s cruise-ins draw an impressive selection of cars, and the next event on the calendar could turn out to be one of the biggest of the year. It’s open to vehicles from all over the automotive spectrum, and it’s doubling as a charity event to help those affected by the Los Angeles fires.

Scheduled for Sunday, January 26, the Petersen’s charity cruise-in is open to any car regardless of make and model, though a vehicle needs to be at least somewhat enthusiast-friendly in order to be let in. The event starts at 8:00 a.m. and ends at 11:00 a.m. If you’re displaying your car, $50 gets you a spot in the show car parking lot, general admission to the museum, as well as complimentary bagels and coffee. If you’re not displaying your car, $50 gets you the same bundle but with on-site parking instead of show-car parking. That’s not a bad deal at all. For context, a general admission ticket normally costs $21.

The museum will donate the proceeds from the event to the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, and the LAPD West Bureau. Folks who have items to donate, such as clothing, can bring them to the event so that they can be distributed to evacuation centers and families impacted by the fires, and the American Red Cross will set up a blood donation center near the museum. Awesome cars displayed in front of a cool museum for a good cause; it sounds like a great Sunday.

You can make a difference even if you can’t make it out to the cruise-in. The museum is halfway to its fundraising goal of $100,000, and it’s encouraging anyone who can to make a donation (big or small) online. And, to extend a big “thank you” to first responders, the Petersen is giving a free one-day ticket to anyone who works for a police or fire department in Los Angeles. Fire and police personnel can claim their free admission ticket by bringing a valid work ID to the admission desk before April 26, 2025.
