Mustang GTD to Start Just North of $325K

Ford

Ford’s bonkers Mustang GTD is the pony car at its absolute wildest. The winged wonder has ultra-high-tech suspension, a thundering 815-hp supercharged 5.2-liter V-8, and the current crown of fastest American car to lap the Nürburgring (6:52.072, in case you were wondering.) But all that prestige and performance comes at a cost—early reports on the maximum Mustang had the starting price near $300K, but that number was rumored to have ballooned to $325K as the car’s arrival drew nearer.

Now, we know the official starting price: $327,960. Car and Driver was the first to publish the news, after the outlet discovered one GTD owner who had posted his window sticker (aka Monroney) on a forum earlier this week. The original Facebook post can be found here.

The Monroney offers a pretty interesting breakdown of how the Mustang GTD is priced. According to the sticker, a Mustang GTD carries a base price of $318,760, but you have to factor in the $3700 gas guzzler tax and a hefty destination/delivery fee of $5500—both unavoidable fees, therefore factored into the out-the-door base price—to reach that figure above.

The document also offers a glimpse of what some options on the GTD will cost. The exposed carbon-fiber roof tacked on $10,000, while the red painted brake calipers added another $1500. Both options are going to look fantastic on this example, which wears frozen white exterior paint. This owner opted out of the Spirit of America special edition, so we’re still uncertain how much that particular option will run.

All told, this GTD owner ended up with an MSRP of $339,460. That’s steep, but we’re going to hold off on saying that it’s too much money for the car until we’ve had a chance to experience its performance for ourselves. It’s worth the investment for a number of Mustang and supercar die-hards, however; the first two years of GTD production have already been spoken for, a Ford spokesperson confirmed to Hagerty in September of last year.

The GTD is pretty cool however I would rather get the C8 Z06 and ZR1 even with markups it still has superior value and performance over the GTD

Even the Temerario is better value too and with the R8 returning in 2027 it’s probably going to be cheaper as well

It’s a nice car but for the competition that is out there that others have mentioned I would pass. Thankfully it is priced too much for me to consider.
