Jaguar’s Controversial Concept Car Stops Paris Traffic

As Jaguar has repeatedly pointed out “Type 00 is a non-production vehicle,” but that hasn’t prevented it from making a dramatic appearance on the streets of Paris.

Following on from its debut at Miami Art Fair in December 2024, Type 00 has been dressed up for Paris Fashion Week in a new ultramarine hue that’s still striking, but a little more conservative than the previous hot pink.

To further “Command Attention” as Jaguar’s new strapline suggests, Type 00 chauffeured Irish actor Barry Keoghan, who stepped out from under its massive upswung passenger door, dressed all in black, revealing the sumptuous cream interior of the electric concept car. Keoghan then moved to the rear to retrieve his jacket from a sliding hatch.

Type 00, and the “Copy Nothing” rebrand that accompanied it has kept Jaguar in the news as it readies for the launch of a luxury electric sedan that will lift the brand to a previously-unseen price point well above $100,000.

The British carmarker estimates that only around 15% of existing customers are likely to stay loyal in this bold new electric era, hence the appearance at art and fashion events rather than traditional car shows. Managing Director Rawdon Glover recently told Autocar, “We needed to make one really big step, because the environment is changing. The competitive set is changing. We think client habits are changing. Across the board, it wasn’t the time for Jaguar to take a little tentative step.”

It’s certainly been a divisive decision, and has alienated many traditionalists, but what’s undeniable is that it has got people talking about Jaguar again. In fact, about the only thing that could have got online commenters more stirred up would have been if Keoghan had re-enacted his final naked dancing scene from Saltburn as he stepped out of the car.

It certainly is not a “little tentative step”, more like a drunken leap into daddy’s pool after too much Yeager.

Fitting that it should be in Paris. Reminds me of the haute couture runway shows where designers bring out their latest way out on a limb fashions that will never ever be purchased. – ‘Of course I’d never wear that but maybe that print and that collar?’ -The dressed to impress crowd Jag is now catering to that doesn’t buy off the rack. High end low volume. I was coincidentally behind an F-type today. The rear haunches are somewhat similar to the double 0, minus the air conditioner vent
