For the Same Price as a Rolls-Royce Spectre You Could Drive This Electric Corniche Convertible

A British EV-swap specialist has unveiled a classic Corniche that matches Rolls-Royce’s flagship Spectre for price and driving range.

Halcyon is focused on turning the Corniche and its Silver Shadow sibling into a limited series which boast the very latest in electric tech to make them every bit as effective as the output from the Rolls-Royce factory.

Key to this is the car’s 800-volt architecture, which is double the capacity of the Spectre’s. This allows for ultra-rapid charging and suitably swift performance—both on the road, and at the charging station. There’s a choice of either 400 or 500-hp for the rear axle electric motor and the option of 77 kWh or 94 kWh for the battery pack. Even the smaller battery is said to be good for over 200 miles, while the bigger unit tops 250 miles on a charge.

Coupled to the state-of-the-art powertrain is active suspension system, plus three driving modes—Drive, Spirited and Touring—which adapt the throttle response and electronic damping accordingly.

Developed with Halcyon’s partner Evice Technologies the conversion is said to have had the input of engineers with previous experience working in Formula 1 and at leading EV companies Rivian and McMurtry.

The result is a car that has been “perfected through the wisdom of hindsight,” and “a vision of what could have been created 60 years ago if our technology had existed,” says Matthew Pearson, CEO of Halcyon. “Throughout its storied 120-year history, Rolls-Royce has earned a reputation for smooth, refined, and quiet power. Drawing on that legacy, we have seamlessly integrated cutting-edge electric technology to remaster and elevate a select few of their most iconic cars,” he adds.

All this comes with a pure classic look and a 1000-hour body restoration, enhanced by new hand-made chrome bumpers and modern headlights. Moving inside, the goal has been to retain as much of the original analog feel, while integrating today’s creature comforts including a hidden high-end audio system with Apple CarPlay, cruise control, climate control and electric seats.

Halcyon intends to build just 60 of its remastered Rolls-Royces with deliveries beginning in 2026, and each one taking a year to complete. The price is a dollar equivalent of $500,000, which is what a reasonably-optioned Spectre would set you back. You will, however, have to supply a donor car to start the process.
