Deck out your GT500 with 4 new carbon-fiber accents from Ford

Ford Performance is offering a gorgeous—albeit pricey—way to shed some pounds from its premier pony car. The four new carbon-fiber parts now available for the supercharged, 5.2-liter GT500 run as follows: front splitter with belly pan, bumper insert, hood vent with rain tray, and a rear decklid trim panel.

“Authenticity and personalization are what our Mustang Shelby GT500 customers want, and our new carbon-fiber performance accessories provide an elevated track-proven look from every angle,” said Mark Wilson, planning and operations manager of vehicle personalization for Ford North America. “Beyond leveraging this high-performance material to reduce weight, we track-tested and validated its durability at Ford Performance Racing School in North Carolina.”

Ford built each part to withstand the kind of track abuse the components will see when attached to the 760-hp super Mustang at full-throttle, and they’re more than an array of exotic-looking accents. The hood vent and rain-tray kit sheds 4 pounds compared to the stock pieces, making up the greatest weight savings between the four parts, which drop 9 pounds in total. Of course, carbon fiber isn’t cheap. The sum of all the new parts is $4730: The splitter, vent, bumper insert, and decklid trim cost $1820, $1185, $1150, and $575, respectively.

These parts are unique and aren’t duplicates of elements in Carbon Fiber Track Package available on the GT500, an option that adds carbon-fiber wheels and instrument panel, among other upgrades. If your quest for a lower curb weight and an even more impressive-looking GT500 has you longing for lightweight composites, Ford Performance is ready to answer.
