2025 Corvette ZR1 is the Quickest in History
The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 will do zero to sixty in 2.3 seconds, making it even quicker than many hypercars.
If you specify the ZTK Performance Package, which comes with a carbon fiber aero package capable of providing 1200 lbs of downforce and sticky Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2R tires, the ZR1 will out-drag an Aston Martin Valkyrie and a McLaren W1.
Chevrolet says its 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged LT7 flat-plane crank V-8 engine is the most powerful V-8 ever made by an American car manufacturer. It also happens to make the ZR1 the fastest car ever built by a U.S. automaker with a top speed of 233 mph.
Along the way the ZTK-equipped ZR1 will run the quarter mile in 9.6 seconds, knocking a tenth of the standard ZR1’s time, and crossing the line at 150 mph. That 2.3 second 0-60, meanwhile, is 0.6 of a second quicker than a Stingray with the Z51 package, three tenths quicker than the Z06 with the Z07 package, and 0.2 seconds more rapid than the hybrid E-Ray.
Making those kind of numbers repeatable in the real world is down to the Corvette’s launch control and custom launch control features, which are standard across the range. For sensational standing starts, launch control manages tire spin and clutch application rate, while the custom launch control gives the driver more control to adjust for real-time conditions, optimizing acceleration by adjusting launch RPM and wheel slip targets from the steering wheel.
“The 2025 Corvette ZR1 yet again exceeded our expectations,” said Josh Holder, chief engineer, Corvette. “Combined with a top speed record of 233 mph—which is unrivaled by any current production car priced under $1 million—the Corvette ZR1 delivers on its mission to provide customers unrelenting power.”
Prices for the 2025 Corvette ZR1 and its ZTK Performance Package haven’t been announced yet, but what’s clear is it will also be the most expensive ‘Vette in history, and fully-loaded examples could even top $200,000.
No manual, no care.
Corvette – Take a page from Gordon Murray and make the best DRIVERS car, not the fastest video game.
Try doing 0-60 in s.3 seconds with any manual…
Maybe if it could be done in 1st gear. But the launch would be tough, for sure.
Most of the sub 4 second manual gearbox cars have a long 1st gear, so no shift between 0 and 60. There are exceptions to this, such as the Noble M400 (3.1 sec), but off hand, I can’t think of anything else at the moment.
Cars with shorter 1st gears that run in the 2s are all dual clutch If they have a shift before 60 mph.
Today’s supercar engines can rev to nearly 10,000 RPM and have extraordinarily wide torque output, so now the limiting factor is just the tires.
At the moment, the C8 has the most power, quickest shifting dual clutch gearbox and the best tires if you are looking at rwd chassis Corvette.
But… If you have AWD with front and rear electric motors, you can accelerate quicker. Fast enough that the usual 0-60 run hurts…
I remember when 4 seconds was incredible…
Spot on.
Wow 0 to 60 in 2.3 seconds that will get you from one stop light to another in a hurry!!!!!
The Zora is coming. I have predicted a discontented lighter car. But now I wonder if it will be a non Turbo too.
I look for a track car but I expect it will be one that people can drive at 10/10ths. These high HP cars are great for media but you can do as much with less. The 2013 C6 GS is often quoted by Corvette staff as the best track car.
The deal on the transmission. Well it would be nice to have a manual but most cars don’t anymore. The paddle cars are now to the point they do basically the same thing just faster and better. It would be nice if they replaced the paddles with a sequential sifter. To give those who like something to shift. It could be done.
On the other hand with these cars today two hands on the wheel is not a bad idea.
This will be cool to see in person. Hard to see the car getting any better.
Tesla makes a faster car that uses no gas at all.
I dropped by a Tesla dealer to perhaps purchase a Plaid S. Looked great form the outside, looked like an personality-void electronic kid’s game on the inside, had poor fitment and left me quite uninspired. Heck, with its pathetic range, I would not even consider trading my C8 Z51 for a Tesla.
Did you actually drive the Tesla or did you think the 1000+ horsepower would be too much?
But it will never sound as sweet.
Where’s the thumbs up button?
There will never be a song written about electric motors and their packaging
Need to do your research, Paul. There are songs about Teslas… proof that people do indeed care about things we don’t care about. But Tesla owners could loose 110% of their sanctimonious attitude and they’d still be insufferable.
uh……
‘It also happens to make the ZR1 the fastest car ever built by a U.S. automaker with a top speed of 233 mph.”
so, the article aboves comment is incorrect?
HMMM…..when value stacking the different attributes of today’s cars, FAST may be crucial to some, but it ain’t the top or in the top three critical elements for most owners.
Today’s cars (like many contemporary items/choices) have become impersonal and ungratifying. The numbers may look great on paper but….we don’t end up living with/at “those numbers” everyday.
I think that the more manufacturers keep pushing the boundaries, gravity will pull most back to the important value points that have the most weight….that many older, less capable cars also possess.
233 mph. I couldn’t even afford the speeding ticket
“The Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut is estimated by the manufacturer to have a top speed of 500 km/h (310 mph), with theoretical speeds as high as 531–563 km/h (330–350 mph).” Think of how fast you could get to work in one of those!
Many Corvette owners can be insufferable too, until they are beaten by a lesser car, like my Camaro.
Just saying, you have to be able to drive it fast too, not quote someone else’s figures.
I have to admit that I can’t imagine buying a car that can go 0-60 in 3 seconds and feeling like I made a mistake in not spending another 100K so I could go 0-60 in 2.3 seconds. It’s all pretty silly for a car I would drive on the street.
A plastic pig is still a plastic PIG!
Ditto !
Imagine that with a refined Countach body on it… that would be awesome.
LOL. How sad that car people are willing to fork over almost a quarter of a million dollars for quick sportcar, when an earlier model sportbike (Suzuki GSXR1000) can easily MATCH those numbers/figures and those cost LESS than 1/10th of what this vette is!
Exactly what I was thinking I had a 82 v65 that would do it in 2.2
