Lewis Hamilton’s Side Hustle Caught on Film

Formula 1 ace Lewis Hamilton seems to be enjoying the change of scenery since his big move from Mercedes to Ferrari for the 2025 racing season. The seven-time world champion wrapped up February’s pre-season testing in Bahrain with the second-fastest time of the week (take that for what it’s worth, of course), afterward telling the assembled media: “I would say this is the most positive feeling that I’ve had in a long time.”

Really, Lewis? Because some of us find it hard to believe that churning out lap after lap for relatively meaningless desert data gathering would leave you more fulfilled than, say, hooning Cameron’s dad’s Ferrari Cal Spider around the streets of Chicago, as this found footage, available on YouTube, would suggest …

And frankly, while we understand that roughly $100 million per year isn’t what it used to be, some find it preposterous that you’d opt for such a relatively mundane side hustle as a downtown parking garage attendant, with its overabundance of thankless patrons in their mediocre econoboxes, day in and day out. Certainly, valeting at Chez Quis and rubbing elbows with Abe Froman, the Sausage King of Chicago, would give you better and more regular access to Ferrari’s fabled road cars. Heck, you might even just ask your new friend Charles Leclerc if he can get you a tour of the factory. He probably knows some people.

In any case, when you’re done fooling around and absolutely de-valuing the gentleman’s dual-purpose machine to rule them all—fake as it may be—we’d bet your smirking boss, Fred Vasseur, is waiting for you to get your act together for real when the lights go out in Melbourne this weekend. And he’ll thank you not to jump the SF-25, please, no matter how positive it feels.

Somewhat amusing but not great. Ford did a Mustang GT spot that combined ‘Field of Dreams’ with ‘Bullit’ that was much better. It does make you wonder if Ferrari is paying him all that and more for his talent as a driver or rock star celebrity status. He is a 7 time which is no easy feat. While many may say that was because he was at Mercedes at a glory point you don’t get that ride by being the fifth caller. On the other hand there’s that ended his career at the prancing horse factor. You have to think that Vettel questioned his decision to go there instead of staying at Red Bull. Some podiums yes, number 8 probably no. We’ll know better this weekend.

The AI insert is a bit weird but it’s funny to see Lewis in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Such a classic Chicago movie.
