1979 Buehrig Prototype

Detroit businessman Richard Kughn teamed up with automotive designer Gordon Buehrig to produce a new vehicle in 1979 and formed the Buehrig Motor Car Company. Based on a Chevrolet Corvette platform, this prototype vehicle would be the last complete car designed by Buehrig and the first to bear his name. The plan was to produce a limited run of 50 vehicles. Only four prototypes cars were built between 1979 and 1982. This is the first of those prototypes. Note the lift off roof panels that Gordon Buehrig pioneered in the 1949 Tasco design. The interior treatment of bright yellow and blue upholstery, corresponding to the colors of the Swedish flag, was specially requested by Buehrig, in honor of his wife, Kay, who is of Swedish heritage.

The wheelbase measures 120 inches. Weighs 3,450 lbs
