1924 Auburn 6-43

This 1924 Auburn Model 6-43 Touring Car features one of the great accessories of the 1920s. It is called a California hardtop and gives a sporty look to a common touring car. The top came with matching side curtains that have oval openings like the opera windows in the hardtop. The Auburn Automobile Company was not in good shape in 1924, having suffered a 34 percent decline in sales. However, a new vice president and general manager entered in the form of E. L. Cord. He would breathe new life into this ailing company and make a lasting impression on automotive history. This touring car was the lowest-priced offering of the Auburn Automobile Company in 1924. It was called the Standard Touring and sold for $1,095. The wheelbase is 114 inches and the car weighs 2,550 pounds.
