The first generation Corvette, produced in 1953, was based on the 1952 LA-122 show car. It was one of the few Motorama dream cars to actually go into production. The use of fiberglass for the body was both novel and economical for a small volume production car. The year 1954 marked the second year of production for Chevrolet’s new sports car. Although the first generation was only offered in white, the 1954 version of the car was available in blue, white, black and red. Total production for the first generation was a mere 300 vehicles. However, for 1954, more than 3,600 cars were sold. This illustrates the roots of Chevrolet’s legendary sports car, which is still in production today.

The wheelbase is 102 inches. Weighs 2,886 lbs.
