1933 Auburn 8-105

Auburn introduced a new top-of-the-line model for 1933, the Salon series, in an attempt to generate interest in the Auburn line and to boost lagging sales. This sedan features more chrome, fancier bumpers, upgraded interior and a V-shaped windshield. The eight-cylinder Salon Sedan in this configuration was built only for one year. It was owned for many years by Auburn resident and long-time museum supporter Dorothy Waluk. Mrs. Waluk dubbed the car “The Queen.” She enjoyed the annual Labor Day parade and participated in the Hoosier Tour with the Auburn for several years. This rare Auburn is a gift from Mrs. Waluk’s estate by her four daughters, Linda Waluk Trier, Gail Waluk Woolever, Peggy Waluk, and Dorothy Waluk Johnson. The wheelbase of this car is 127 inches. The cost new was $1,245. A total of 293 such models were sold.
