    Hagerty's frequently asked questions will help you learn more about our classic car insurance policy, Hagerty Drivers Club™ and how we handle classic car claims.

    • It’s up to your discretion who you allow to drive your car. Just keep in mind, the same acceptable usage that applies to you applies to everyone who drives it. While Hagerty supports youth involvement in the hobby, our program guidelines requires that every driver must be fully licensed, with no state imposed restrictions (such as a suspension). Please call a licensed sales agent to discuss your specific situation.

    • Simply put, we want you to enjoy your classic vehicle. While there are some restrictions in the policy, you’re covered for pleasure use, whether it's a drive on a gorgeous summer day, a trip to the ice cream shop, attending club events or going to shows. If you have specific questions about usage, especially if you own a newer vehicle (generally 1990 and newer), we're happy to discuss them with you.

    • Our rates anticipate limited usage and factor in your geographic area. We understand that most classic boats will not be used on a daily, or even monthly, basis. The annual premium rate takes into consideration that the vessel will not be used frequently; however, as noted above, there are no restrictions on personal pleasure usage.

    • Yes and it varies depending on the type of vehicle. We need one good photo for stock (original) vehicles, showing a full side view of the car. We need four photos for custom or modified vehicles (full vehicle, engine, interior, and trunk or bed,if it's a truck). Two photos are required for classic pickups (full vehicle and truck bed).

      • After a claim is filed, a Hagerty adjuster is assigned and will contact you within one business day. Typically, this first call from the adjuster will happen in the same day the claim was filed.
      •  In this call, the adjuster will discuss the loss and coverages, determine whether to assign an appraiser or ask for an estimate and photos, and address any next steps that are needed to resolve the claim.
      • Once the adjuster receives and reviews the damage information and confirms coverage, they will issue the initial payment.
      • Once payment has been issued, your shop may begin the repairs to your vehicle.
      • Please note: If the cost to repair is more than the initial payment, contact your adjuster and we will work with you and your shop directly to address any supplemental costs.

    • Yes. Most marine insurance programs – including Hagerty’s – will require an out-of-water value and condition survey for all vessels over 26’ that have any type of galley, head or living accommodations.
