When Motor Trend tested the 1970 Buick GS Stage 1, it was the third fastest car and the only one with a back seat. In stock trim, it was faster than a Hemi Charger or a 454 Chevelle.

I've owned this particular car for over 40 years, starting just after high school when it was my daily driver and driven to college.

Paint and exterior

An older paint job, last applied in 1985. Subtle upgrades, factory front and rear GSX spoilers, no vinyl top and Wheel Vintique 7" wheels with 245-60-15 BFGs in front and 8" in rear with 295-50-15 BFGs.

Upholstery and Interior

Stock appearing and nothing stands out from the ordinary unless you notice the "Objects in mirror" on the passenger outside mirror or the "OD" on the factory shifter console panel. I padded and wrapped the factory steering wheel myself.

Engine

Original Engine: No

Forged pistons, TA 212 cam, Edelbrock Performer heads, MT repro headers, Edelbrock Performer intake with 800 CFM Quadrajet for induction.

Mileage

I got it in 1980 with about 80,000 miles on it. Lately, the mileage is lucky to see more than 1,000 per year.

Wheels and tires

Wheel Vintiques Buick-styled wheel all around with 7" in front and 8" in back. Shod with 245-60-15 in front and 295-50-15 in back.

Brakes

Front discs and 2nd F-body rear discs

Transmission

Built for 500 HP by a local Kentucky builder with a lock up torque converter that keeps the RPM down on longer jaunts.

Warranty

No
