The famous Model T Ford is credited as the car that put the world on wheels. Affectionately known as the “Tin Lizzie,” it was produced from 1908 to 1927, and total sales over the entire production run exceeded 15 million vehicles. In Henry Ford’s own words: “I will build a car for the great multitude. It will be large enough for the family, but small enough for the individual to run and care for. It will be constructed of the best materials, by the best men to be hired, after the simplest designs the modern engineering can devise. But it will be so low in price that no man making a good salary will be unable to own one—and enjoy with his family the blessing of hours of pleasure in God’s great open spaces.”

This Model T was purchased new for $507 at Grand Traverse Auto by a downtown resident of Traverse City. It’s a low-mileage example that has resided in Traverse City since it was new. In the 1970s, it was treated to a repaint and mechanical rebuild.
