1979 Ford Mustang Pace Car
Purchased in 2005 from a fellow Mustang club member. Needed everything. Car was mostly finished in the spring of 2010, good enough to take to shows. 302 V-8 (F) with a SROD 4-speed manual (5) transmission. Pewter (1E) over Satin Black. Black cloth/vinyl (UA) bucket seats. TRX tire and wheel package (standard on all Pace Cars). 3.08 standard axle (Y) ratio. AM/FM cassette stereo radio (7). All Pace Car replicas had the removable sunroof. There were 10,478 of these Pace Car replicas built; this car is one of 591 built at the San Jose, CA assembly plant with a V-8 and 4-speed. The 1979 Mustang Pace Cars have their own VIN sequence; the last six digits starts with 48 (denotes Pace Car) and the last four digits being the unit sequential number. This is car #1431 from the San Jose, CA assembly plant. Note there is also a #1431 from the Dearborn, MI plant (somewhere!!!). The amber light on the roof was an eBay purchase (Whelen "Guardian").
Paint and exterior
One repaint (and new decal kit) in 2010 to original colors. Pewter (1E) over Satin Black. This color was only available on the Pace Car in 1979.
Upholstery and interior
