1968 MG MGB
Known as "Franken B". Lives off parts of the dead. '65 engine with a Weber 45DCOE, Bosch alternator, Petronix, overdrive from a '79, dash from a '74, rear bumpers from a '70, seats from I'm not sure. Passenger door from a GT. Tube shock conversion all around. Bought in 1978 for $125. Been to California, Key West, Canada, and an afternoon in Nogales, Mexico I'd rather forget. Rusted, wrecked (by several friends as well as us) and kinda repaired over the years. Taught our son to drive with it. Granddaughter got her first driving lesson in it. Favorite car of the collection; will be the last to go as well when the time comes. The fact it is worth about nothing is its best feature next to just being damn fun.
Paint and exterior
Some leftover paint at a buddy's shop in 1980. A 30 footer at best. I touch it up with a paint marker.
Upholstery and interior
Serviceable and comfortable.
Original Engine: No
High compression pistons, Crane cam of unknown grind (Jeg's in 1979) ARP head studs (originals wore out!!}.
On its 3rd speedo. It's been there and done that. To everyone's best guess over the 43 years of constant use about 500K. Ready to get it's 3rd differential assembly from a low mileage donor.
