1962 Austin Mini
This is a rare LHD USA export 850 in overall fair condition. I rescued this car from an airplane hangar in Oklahoma a few months ago and brought it back to drivable condition. It needs a restoration to be more than a driver, but is completely rust free. Starts immediately, shifts in and out of all 4 gears and reverse, drives 65+mph easily. Comes with loads of extra parts. Numbers matching engine, clean Texas title in hand. I’ve spent a few thousand dollars on this car within the few months I’ve had it, and have a whole folder of receipts to prove my investment in it.
Paint and exterior
Very thick yellow paint all around, previous owner claims it was painted over 10 years ago. White roof. Small chips and a few pits, but no rust or bubbling anywhere.
I believe original color is Tartan Red.
Upholstery and interior
Inside is sprayed black, all upholstery and trim is black to match. Original fiberboard speedo surround intact. Rip in driver seat caused by me sitting on a toy car my son left for me. Carpet is good, headliner has small hole in it, but is original.
The odometer doesn’t turn over, I haven’t taken the time to look into it. Previous owner says vehicle didn’t see much driving after old restoration. I drive it every Saturday down the road and back to stretch its legs.
Wheels and tires
10 inch mini lite wheels with good tread left on 165/70/r10 Falken tires.
Fully original single leading shoes all around. I have rebuilt all 4 brakes and replaced the master cylinder. Clutch master cylinder has been replaced as well.
This is the true original! 3 synchro magic wand, original to the car. I don’t have another one to compare it to, but I had heard bad things about the “pudding stirrer” transmission and was pleasantly surprised by how smooth the shifts are.
