Since the vehicle's creation in Atlanta, it has always been relatively close to home. In father-son projects, we tend to find and purchase the aftermath of a once highly ambitious project. That story holds for this Chevelle. This disassembled shell was tucked away in a north Georgia garage, and the majority of the parts were piled inside the vehicle.

Over the past decade or so, there has been a casual vehicle search to fulfill my dad's lifelong dream of a red interior 1966 Chevelle. Patience prevailed, and an opportunity for a factory red interior, 4-speed, 138 Chevelle presented itself. I made the call, he grabbed the trailer, and the labor of love began.

Paint and exterior

We generally stick the Fisher trim tags, but this car is different. This was built to fill a preference, and the car is currently Tuxedo Black.

Upholstery and interior

Interior color was a major factor in the vehicle's purchase, but there was a slight change. We remained loyal to the Chevelle line but opted for the 788 Medium Red of 1970 Chevelle. After sourcing the material, we had the traditional 1966 Chevelle seat cover stitched.
