Illinois Moratorium

We are exercising leniency to Illinois members who are impacted by significant storms on the date of 11/23/18.

Cancellations and non-renewals:

  • As a result of a disruption to services or the member’s displacement due to the storms, we are required to make reasonable efforts to work with policyholders and extend leniency, including providing a grace period for payment of premium.

Moratorium on cancellations and non-renewals for non-payment only:

  • For any cancellation or non-renewal notices issued on or after 11/23/18, on any in-force policy issued to an affected member, we shall withdraw the cancellation or non-renewal and reinstate the policy with no lapse in coverage, allowing an extension to pay the amount due in full. This deferral period shall be 60 days from the last day the premium was due.
  • In addition, we are unable to issue any new cancellation or non-renewal notices to affected members until 1/23/19, or a later time if deemed reasonable given an individual member's circumstance.
  • Any late payment fee during this period should be waived.

Moratorium on cancellations and non-renewals for general circumstances:

  • For reasons other than nonpayment, cancellations or non-renewals will be withdrawn and we are unable to issue any new cancellation or non-renewal notices to affected members until 1/23/19, or a later time if deemed reasonable given an individual member's circumstance.
