Hagerty Announces 2016 Nonprofit Partner

Traverse City, Michigan – Hagerty is pleased to announce the selection of Michael’s Place as its 2016 Nonprofit Partner. This will be the third year of the company’s Annual Nonprofit Partner program.

Michael’s Place will receive a financial investment of $25,000. In addition, Hagerty will provide employee service and pro bono consulting to boost the organization’s internal capacity.

“Michael’s Place has a long-standing relationship with Hagerty,” said McKeel Hagerty, President and CEO.“We share a common vision for a vibrant and healthy Grand Traverse region and support Michael’s Place as they assist individuals, businesses and schools in times of crisis. Our employees anticipate being able to work side-by-side with the organization’s leadership in 2016 to leverage additional resources and, together, make a meaningful impact in our community.”

Michael’s Place participated in a competitive review process for the partnership opportunity and made its leadership available for a site visit in November.

“Michael's Place is honored to be selected as the Hagerty 2016 Nonprofit Partner,” said Mindy Buell, Executive Director of Michael’s Place. “This exciting partnership will provide our organization with advancement in technologies as we continue our evolution as a valued community asset. The impact that Hagerty will make in in our community by helping Michael's Place serve a larger population of grieving families, schools, and businesses will be powerful.”

The selection of Hagerty’s Annual Nonprofit Partner is the culmination of a year of giving that has generated nearly 15,000 hours of service to date to communities in which the company operates, including hundreds of hours to TART Trails, Hagerty’s 2015 Annual Nonprofit Partner. On December 2, VolunteerMatch, the web’s largest volunteer engagement network, selected TART Trails as its first Innovation Award recipient.

“Everyone at TART Trails is thrilled to be recognized for our nonprofit partnership with Hagerty and so grateful to be named this year's Innovation Award winner by VolunteerMatch“, said Julie Clark, Executive Director of TART Trails. “Working with the staff at Hagerty the past twelve months has been an incredibly rewarding experience and this is a major highlight. We have accomplished so much together thanks to the hundreds of volunteer hours and high level of professional support that Hagerty has so graciously provided in support of our mission to provide a world class network of trails and encourage their use.”

Year-end support is Hagerty’s largest campaign, with three weeks of service and donation drives. Year-end giving kicked off the week of Thanksgiving and included the donation of nearly 800 books for second grade students in the Traverse City Area Public Schools for #GivingTuesday, in addition to adopting 100 elementary school students for Christmas. Additionally, Hagerty held donation drives at its headquarters in Traverse City and its offices in Denver, Canada and the United Kingdom.

Locally, Hagerty provided the following donations:
