Traverse City, Mich. (Thursday, April 01, 2010) - The annual Hagerty Family Car Show continues to gain momentum from the more than 400 collector vehicles that were present in the 2009 event. In addition to the expanded show site, the 2010 event will include performances from the Marine Corp Band, several Civil War re-enactment groups and live entertainment following the awards ceremony.
The event is scheduled for July 4, 2010 at Hagerty’s headquarters in downtown Traverse City, Michigan, and will be held in conjunction with the National Cherry Festival’s opening weekend.
“I cannot think of a better way to celebrate our Nation’s Independence Day than to spend time with your family at a local car show, complete with a prestigious air show by the Blue Angels,” says McKeel Hagerty, CEO of Hagerty Insurance. “The vehicle lineup has something for everyone—from the earliest horseless carriages to brand new performance cars with examples of every vintage car, hot rod, boat and motorcycle in between—and even an exclusive display of space vehicles from NASA this year.”
The show’s highest honor is the “Queen’s Choice” Trophy, chosen by the National Cherry Festival Queen. Followed closely is the “Women’s Spirit Award” that recognizes a female collector by giving away a one-of-a-kind necklace designed by Kim Hagerty and produced by the show’s long term supporters at Federico’s Design Jewelry in downtown Traverse City.
Goodie bags will be given to the first 300 entrants and class awards will include cars, trucks, motorcycles and tractors. The show is free to the public starting at 11 a.m., with the awards ceremony at 4 p.m.—immediately following the Blue Angels air show. Vehicle registration will be held from 8-11 a.m.
