What better way to enjoy Miami than onboard the Cigarette Racing Team’s Tirranna AMG Edition, a 59-foot luxury sport boat powered by six supercharged 4.6-liter V-8 Mercury Racing 450R outboard engines? With a combined output of 2700 horsepower and enough room for 26 people, this is an 80-mph boat that just begs to be moored beside a matching SUV.
In this case, that utilitarian luxury cruiser would be the one-off Mercedes-AMG G 63 Cigarette Edition. As the 12th special collaboration between the two companies since 2007, the G 63 Cigarette is all about that “who the hell is Sonny Crockett?” attitude. Coming at you with a metallic black exterior enhanced by a golden AMG “diamond” pattern, this G 63 rolls on 22-inch cross-spoke forged wheels with equally golden accents. Naturally, the night package is standard, along with a dark chrome radiator grille and bullbar, side-entry boards in matte black, and all vehicle logos in glossy black.
To color-coordinate with the boat regardless of the sun’s position, the interior features a macchiato beige and dark blue two-tone nappa leather upholstery, as well as AMG’s carbon-fiber steering wheel wrapped in dark blue nappa. The package wouldn’t be complete without unique floor mats and grab handles, naturally, each of which feature Cigarette’s lettering.
At 59 feet long, and sporting a 14-foot beam, the Tirranna AMG Edition is a touch more exciting under all the layers of luxury. To save weight where it matters, its raked hardtop is made of carbon fiber, just like a number of parts throughout its superstructure, including carbon-capped stringers and a carbon transom. The hull and deck are vacuum-infused, using a highly optimized composite laminate schedule with PVC coring. The instrument panel is a nano-coated solid surface that is anti-reflective and heat-resistant and also packed with titanium fasteners.
Even with its vertical center of gravity pushed low by all those composites, the 59-foot Tirranna still balances those six 450-horsepower V-8s at the back, which called for a unique gyrostabilizer decreasing the boat’s roll by 80 percent.
Reasons why this 2700-horsepower monster will “only” do 80 mph on water include the presence of a large sofa, a king-sized bed, many tables, a fridge, a 7-foot electric awning system, a large bathroom with a separate shower, a television, and a 29-speaker, 5200-watt sound system. There’s also a summer kitchen at the stern, which has a grill, a sink, a food prep station, and storage space for all things you wish to consume.
AMG’s G 63 Cigarette Edition doesn’t come with any of these features, but will go a lot faster on land, thanks to its single 577-horsepower 4.0-liter biturbo V-8. In fact, golden accents be damned, this SUV is faster than a certain white Testarossa, a car that left Italy painted black.
