Oh, Preston Tucker, we love you so. More accurately, we love your marvelous car, the Tucker 48. And we’re hardly alone.
Let’s face it, there’s something special about the Tucker. Lots of somethings. Hollywood thought so too, which is why most people think actor Jeff Bridges built the thing. The car is unmistakable. But as much as we admire the innovative automobile and are compelled to photograph it again and again, most of us have never actually seen one moving. It’s no wonder then that a photo of a 1948 Tucker cruising the grounds of the Gilmore Museum was the most popular Instagram post on HagertyClassicCars last week.

Chevrolet Corvair Rampside pickup (1,272 likes) — Probably the coolest feature of the Chevrolet Corvair Rampside pickup is ... well ... the rampside. Photograph by @joshsphoto.
1967 & 2017 Chevrolet Camaro (1,255 likes) — Which would you prefer, a classic Chevrolet Camaro or a shiny new one? Photographed for Hagerty magazine by @trahanphoto.
Datsun 240Z (1,246 likes) — Released in late 1969, the Datsun 240Z (S30) was designed to compete with contemporary popular European sports cars. Priced within a few hundred dollars of the MGB GT, it was wildly popular — so popular, in fact, that the Z became one of the most successful sports car lines ever produced. 1967 Shelby GT500 (1,233 likes) — In 1967, Shelby added the GT500 to its lineup. It was equipped with a "Ford Cobra" 428-cid V-8 engine sporting two Holly four-barrel carbs and an aluminum intake manifold. Photograph by @keepitwideopen.
You Like It, We Love It — Every week there’s a photo on HagertyClassicCars that we think deserved a lot more likes than it received. This shot of three BMWs chasing an Alfa Romeo at Laguna Seca is one of those.
Best of the Rest — If you love classic cars like we do, it’s difficult to resist a classic photo of classic cars. Toss in the battle against nature and you have a winner. It probably helps knowing that spring is finally here and we likely won’t see a snow storm quite like this one anytime soon. We hope. Posted by @buickheritagealliance, it’s our favorite photo of the week.
