Instagram Jump Start: Race into the week in a 1949 Aston Martin Le Mans car

Happy Monday! Jump start your work week with something that isn’t work at all. Between the Goodwood Festival of Speed in southern England, Bloomington Gold in Indianapolis and our own backyard in Traverse City, Mich., we were treated to some fabulous automobiles during the past week. Here are the top five most-liked classic car photos from Hagerty’s Instagram account:

1949 Aston Martin DB team car (1,423 likes) – This unrestored 1949 Aston Martin DB team car finished seventh in the 1949 Le Mans 24-Hour race, then two weeks later placed fifth in the equally grueling Spa 24-Hour race in Belgium. It sold for $930,640 on Friday at Bonhams’ Goodwood Festival of Speed auction.

1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS (1,159) – With gorgeous styling and a 396-ci big-block V-8, the 1966 Chevy Chevelle SS went from limited-edition machine to mass-market muscle car as more than 72,000 were sold. Base price was $2,776 – adjusting for inflation, that’s equal to about $20,648 in today’s economy.

1970 Chevrolet Corvette (1,118) – Bloomington Gold Corvettes is the longest running all-Corvette event in the country and it is underway now (and runs through Sunday) at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. This C3 Corvette sports a vintage style U-S-A-1 dealer plate.

1957 Oldsmobile Super 88 (1,080) – The Oldsmobile 88 gained an all-new look in 1957, one year ahead of corporate siblings from Chevrolet and Pontiac. Lower rooflines with a larger hood and grille highlighted the new design. This Super 88 convertible fit perfectly with the Cuban theme at the Hagerty Family Picnic in Traverse City, Mich.

1947 Ford cabover custom truck (1,033) – The grille on this custom 1947 Ford cabover truck lifts by remote control to reveal a 513-cid Cadillac powerplant, which replaced its original flathead V-8.

Best of the Rest – You can get lost looking at all the incredible automotive photography on Instagram, and let’s face it – sometimes we do. This week we kept coming back to this stunning photo of a 1962 Jaguar E-Type Series 1 roadster. Taken for Bonhams’ Goodwood auction (and posted by classiccarchasers), it shows the timeless Jag in the early morning mist, sun rising in the background. Who wouldn’t want to wake up to this?
