Recently on eBay: 1976 VW Beetle Convertible

1976 Volkswagen Beetle Convertible, sold 5/9/12 for $12,800: Who doesn’t like a classic Beetle convertible? The later ones like this traded some charm and nicer interiors for fuel injection and a bit more power. This one presented nicely in shiny fresh bright orange with a black interior. The description was thin and there were no photos of the underside, but if everything checked out on what appeared to be a 3+ car, the price paid was spot-on retail.

The new owner may not score when he goes to sell it, but it will likely always be worth what he paid and not cost an arm and a leg to maintain.

I have 1979 Beetle convertible which was delivered into this country in Feb.1980. I believe it was the last one delivered into the US. I purchased it in 1995 with only 67 original miles. It had never been titled but was owned by a collector. Paid $20,000 and believe it is worth at least that today and possibly much more. It now has only 9200 miles on it and is in mint condition, all original.

I purchased a '79 Beetle Conv.Karman in '82 at a classic car auction with 985 miles. Never titled until by me; was owned by a VW dealer. Now has !900 miles; everything totally original. River blue/ black interior. Anyone estimate its value today???
