Model overview

Model description

2015 marks the final year of the second-generation Cadillac CTS-V. Though the car that would come after it would be more powerful, it did not capture that same “brawler in a business suit” feeling evoked by this outgoing car. Following the departure of the Sport Wagon in 2014, the CTS-V was offered in the Sedan and the Coupe. The 2015 Cadillac CTS-V carried a base price of nearly $70,000.

Both cars provided a pronounced power-dome hood to house the powerful motor, 19-inch aluminum wheels (9 inches wide in front, 9.5 in the rear), Michelin Pilot Sport tires, and revised lower front bodywork. The Coupe provided even more aggressive intakes and spoiler, an extremely raked rear window to the point where it was almost flat, and unique center-mounted exhaust.

At the heart of the CTS-V was the Corvette LS9-based GM LSA V-8. This 6.2-liter supercharged unit generated 556 horsepower and 551 pound-feet of torque. Power goes to the rear wheels through either a 6-speed manual transmission or 6-speed automatic with paddle shifters.

The CTS-V features the unique MagneRide suspension that was co-developed with GM. It uses a magnetorheological shock absorber fluid that can actually be altered to match driving conditions, and is guided by sensors that monitor the road every millisecond. This system was actually licensed to Ferrari.

On the inside, the CTS-V is largely unchanged from the non-V Cadillac CTS. It has a modern high-tech cabin with a combination of leather and sueded microfiber upholstery. A highly recommended option to check for when seeking out a CTS-V are the Recaro front bucket seats. In addition to being 14-way power-adjustable, they are also heated and cooled.
