Other than purchasing a recent Hemmings Old Cars Price Guide at a local bookstore, and studying in, or looking at/buying an issue of Hemmings Motor News to see what ‘comparables’ are being sold for, I could suggest that you actually obtain an appraisal on your vehicle, so you can point to it and indicate that “THIS car is valued at X amount”. A professional appraisal is a few hundred dollars, but you at least know what the vehicle is truly worth and then are less likely to lose money on the sale.
