All-British Field Meet turns 25

Hagerty

May 17, 2010

British car lovers gathered in Vancouver, British Columbia, on May 22 for the 25th anniversary celebration of the All-British Field Meet.

The car show is the largest of its kind in western Canada. More than 600 cars and motorbikes were displayed in 61 classes on the grounds of the VanDusen Botanical Garden. Featured marques included the E-Type Jaguar and English-built Fords. The show also celebrated 100 years of BSA motorcycles.

Hagerty had a strong presence at this year’s show; staff and experts held a seminar series focusing on British car values over the past 25 years. The sessions were led by valuation expert Dave Kinney, a member of the American Society of Appraisers with more than 35 years of experience in the hobby.

“Part of our mandate is to inform and educate the general public about the collector car hobby,” said event co-chair Patrick Stewart. “Hagerty has an impressive track record in this respect.”

Hagerty also led a group of Youth Judges through the show as part of its ongoing Operation Ignite! initiative. The kids had an opportunity to learn about the basics of judging by examining a cross-section of classics on the field – including the vehicles entered in the Young Timers class for owners under the age of 25.

Comments

  1. Good video. Saw the link In Hagerty`s magazine, and looked forward to seeing shots of an Alvis TA21 and Alvis TD21, but was disappointed. I thought that since there are only about 300 Alvis cars of all years in all of North America that they would attract some interest.

  2. Certainly enjoyed Dave Kinney`s seminar. It was very informative and well presented. Thanks..............

  3. Too bad British means only high end cars to this author. How about a common Morris or Austin. It is lonely out here! [Editor's note: Point well taken. Although our British car price index includes affordable Brits like the TR6 and MGB, we should and will pay more attention to the Austin Americas and Morris Minors that are out there.]

  4. Rebecca Cheers from California!

After watching this lovely video, I believe I should start making plans to drive my TR3 there next year! Especially love the gentleman's story about his AC Ace.

  5. Great video. Gorgeous cars. How about some more?
