Michigan Customers--Congratulations!

The Michigan Senate voted 32-2, on December 11th, to pass HB 4007!  Now it's on the Governor's desk for his signature or veto.  Unfortunately, we've heard that the Michigan Insurance Commissioner, Frank M. Fitzgerald, will advise Governor Engler to veto the bill.  So, it's critical that we make one last effort and contact the Governor to strongly urge him to sign the bill into law.

You Must Act Now:  The Governor has two weeks left in office--time is of the essence.

Fax or send Governor Engler a letter. Urge him to sign HB 4007 into law.  Both the House and Senate passed it with overwhelming support.  It should become law.  Governor Engler's email account has been turned off, therefore a fax or letter will be the only way to reach him. His contact information is:

The Honorable John Engler
Office of the Governor
111 South Capitol, 3rd Floor
Lansing, MI 48933

Fax Number:  517-335-6863

HB 4007—This bill amends the state insurance code to significantly reduce the fees charged to historic car owners by the Michigan Catastrophic Claim Association (MCCA).

What would this bill do? The H5 Substitute to H.B. 4007 would only charge members a premium for historic vehicles an amount equaling 20 percent of the premium charged for a daily driven passenger car, beginning in July 2003.

If you questions, please feel free to contact Sydney McManus at 800-922-4050, x8787.
