The Rolls Royce Owners Club was founded in May of 1951 by six of the marque's enthusiasts. Its first membership directory—published in October of that year—listed 212 members. Today, some 57 years later, the club boasts 9,400 members worldwide and welcomes anyone with an interest in any era of Bentley or Rolls Royce motorcars.
"More than 90 percent of our members are owners," said Tim Younes, executive director of the RROC since 1987. "We strongly encourage individuals to join the club before they purchase a Rolls-Royce or Bentley and learn about these cars from the experts—our members—who are incredibly generous in sharing their knowledge."
The club's president said most members "join and stay in our club to receive information and support about these motorcars."
"We have a diverse membership," he said, "with our bond being the love of these exceptionally-built motorcars."
The RROC's mission is simple. It aims to:
The club hosts a variety of events, including a week-long Annual Meet, driving tours and technical seminars. This year's 57th Annual Meet is scheduled for June 22-26 in Colonial Williamsburg, Va. The RROC also provides its members with a variety of resources, including a subscription to the award-winning Flying Lady Magazine and access to the club's comprehensive website, technical support groups and a tool loan program, to name a few.
